Common questions about offline operation
Connectivity requirements, team accounts, and backup in offline environments
After deployment through Atlas Manager, daily clinical workflows operate entirely on the local network. Internet connectivity is only required for periodic license verification and downloading software updates. Both can be performed at a convenient time.
Accounts on a deployment are created by claiming an invitation sent from the Dermi Portal: the license owner invites a member by email address, and the member claims the invitation on the practice network with the single-use claim code they received. The account operations that follow, such as password recovery and email or two-factor changes, use verification links that Atlas Manager displays directly, so a deployment without external email delivery keeps every member's access.
Atlas is accessible from any device connected to your local network through a standard web browser. The responsive interface supports smartphones, tablets, and desktop workstations, and entries stay live across those devices on the practice network, so an edit made in the exam room reaches the front desk screen as it happens. It can also be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), straight from the browser. On iPhone and iPad, the free Atlas Companion app provides native access and reference-aligned camera capture over the same local network.
Atlas Manager creates complete system backups stored locally. Completed backups can be copied to external drives, network storage, or any accessible location. Every backup is verified for integrity, which ensures reliable restores. Cross-platform compatibility supports recovery on different operating systems.
