Quick Start Guide: From Sign-Up to the First Patient

Overview

This guide follows the whole setup of Dermi Atlas Professional in order, from registering in the Dermi Portal to documenting the first patient. The installation itself is done by Dermi Atlas Manager, and each installation step below links to the article that walks through it. Dermi also completes the setup at no charge on request; see what assisted setup includes.

Before starting, have at hand the practice computer that will run Atlas, administrator access to it, an internet connection, and an email address for the account.

Step 1: Create a Dermi Cloud Services Account

The Dermi Cloud Services account owns the subscription, the licenses, and the team's membership, and it is managed in the Dermi Portal.

1. Go to portal.dermi.ai and select Sign up.
2. Enter the Email Address for the account.
3. Select the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy checkboxes, then select Continue.
4. Open the verification email from notification@dermi.ai and follow its link, which expires after one hour. If the email does not arrive, check the spam folder.
5. On the Set Up Your Account page, choose a Username (2 to 16 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores), enter a First Name (letters only), and set a Password that meets the password requirements.
6. Select Create Account.

Step 2: Start the Free Trial

1. In the Dermi Portal, open Overview.
2. Select Start Free Trial on the plan card and enter the payment details on the checkout page. The first charge falls at the end of the 30-day free trial.
3. Back in the Dermi Portal, the plan card reads Trial period with the date the trial ends, and the Licenses tile reads "0 of 1 used".

Step 3: Generate a License Key

1. On Overview, select Generate New License.
2. On the license card that appears, reveal the key or copy it with the copy control.

Keep the key at hand for the installation.

Step 4: Check the Practice Computer

Confirm that the computer meets the System Requirements before installing.

Step 5: Install Dermi Atlas Manager

Download Atlas Manager from the Downloads page of the Dermi Portal and install it as described in the article for the computer's operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Step 6: Install Atlas

Open Atlas Manager and follow its setup wizard, which takes the license key, checks the computer, installs Atlas, and asks for the admin passphrase, as described in Installing Dermi Atlas Manager.

Step 7: Connect the Practice Devices

Atlas opens from Open Atlas on the Atlas Status page of Atlas Manager, and from any device on the practice network at the address shown there under Atlas Access. For an encrypted connection, which is recommended wherever the network includes Wi-Fi or is shared, install the Atlas certificate on each computer, tablet, and phone that opens Atlas, as described in the certificate setup article.

Step 8: Create the First Account

Every account on Atlas, the owner's included, is created by invitation:

1. In the Dermi Portal, open the license card and select Invite Member. The first invitation can go to the owner's own email address, as a Clinician.
2. Open the invitation email, which carries a claim code.
3. On the Atlas sign-in page, select Claim invitation, enter the email address and the claim code, and choose a username and password.

Step 9: Document the First Patient

Sign in to Atlas and select Create Patient in the sidebar. Once the patient is saved, photographs are uploaded to the record or captured with Dermi Atlas Companion. See Managing Patients and Uploading and Organizing Images.
