Enable secure HTTPS connections to Dermi Atlas Professional using self-signed SSL certificates. Understand certificate generation, download, and installation.
Dermi Atlas Professional supports HTTPS to provide encrypted communication between your devices and the server. Because the system runs on a local network IP address, it uses self-signed certificates generated by Dermi Atlas Manager.
While you can use HTTP on a trusted local network, we recommend HTTPS for improved security.
Public Certificate Authorities (like Let's Encrypt) cannot issue certificates for private local IP addresses (like 192.168.1.100). Therefore, Dermi Atlas Manager acts as its own authority to generate a valid certificate for your specific local IP.
Because the certificate is self-signed, devices do not trust it by default. You must install and trust the certificate on every client device (iPad, laptop, phone) that connects to the system via HTTPS.

Certificates may need to be rotated (regenerated) if:
Automatic: Dermi Atlas Manager detects IP changes on startup and schedules regeneration automatically.
Manual: You can trigger rotation in the SSL Certificate section of Dermi Atlas Manager.
Note: After any rotation, the old certificate becomes invalid. You must download the new certificate and reinstall it on all devices. This is why using a Static IP is highly recommended.
