Installing SSL Certificates on iPhone and iPad

On iPhone and iPad, the certificate is installed as a profile and then trusted in a separate step. The file reaches the device in one of two ways.

Getting the Certificate onto the Device

• With Dermi Atlas Companion: In the Atlas Companion app, open the server and tap Install Certificate. When the share sheet appears, choose Save to Files. The screen also shows the Certificate Fingerprint, which matches the Fingerprint under Certificate Details on the SSL Certificate card in Dermi Atlas Manager. For a server that uses an unencrypted connection, the screen reports that no certificate is needed; turn on the server's encrypted connection setting to use HTTPS.
• With a transferred file: Download the certificate from Dermi Atlas Manager, as described in SSL Certificate Setup for HTTPS Access, and send it to the device, for example with AirDrop.

Step 1: Install the Profile

1. Open the certificate file: in the Files app for a file saved from Atlas Companion, or from AirDrop or the message it arrived in. If asked to choose a device, choose the iPhone or iPad in hand, and tap Allow if asked to download a configuration profile.
2. Open Settings and tap Profile Downloaded near the top, or go to General => VPN & Device Management.
3. Tap the dermi-atlas.local profile, tap Install, enter the passcode, and confirm.

Step 2: Enable Trust

1. Go to Settings => General => About.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Certificate Trust Settings.
3. Under Enable Full Trust for Root Certificates, turn on the switch for dermi-atlas.local, and tap Continue.

Checking the Connection

In Atlas Companion, tap Verify Installation; it confirms that the certificate is trusted. In Safari, open the HTTPS address shown on the Atlas Access card, for example https://192.168.1.100:15045; the page loads without a certificate warning.

Replacing the Certificate

When Atlas has created a new certificate, Atlas Companion shows Cert Changed on the server. In Settings => General => VPN & Device Management, remove the previous dermi-atlas.local profile, then install and trust the new one with the steps above.
