Understand the local network requirements for Dermi Atlas Professional, including port assignments, firewall considerations, and static IP recommendations.
The host computer running Dermi Atlas Manager and Dermi Atlas Professional must be connected to the local area network (LAN). Client devices (tablets, phones, laptops) access Dermi Atlas Professional through the network using the host computer's local IP address.
The network must allow devices to communicate with each other via local IP addresses. This is the default configuration on most office networks and typically requires no adjustment.
Dermi Atlas Professional uses the following default ports:
Automatic Conflict Resolution:
Ports do not need to be configured manually. During initial setup, Dermi Atlas Manager automatically checks port availability. If a default port is in use, Dermi Atlas Manager searches sequentially for the next available port. The correct access URLs will always be displayed in the Dermi Atlas Manager interface.
The host computer's firewall must permit incoming connections on the ports used by Dermi Atlas Professional. Dermi Atlas Manager attempts to configure firewall rules automatically during setup and startup.
If automatic configuration fails or firewall policies are managed centrally by the organization, firewall rules may need to be created manually.
For detailed instructions on configuring firewalls, see Configuring Your Firewall for Dermi Atlas Professional.
Configuring the host computer with a static local IP address is strongly recommended.
By default, most networks use DHCP to assign IP addresses dynamically. This means the host computer's address may change periodically (e.g., after a router restart).
Why Static IP Matters:
If the host IP address changes:
Configuring a static IP prevents these disruptions by keeping access URLs and bookmarks stable and avoiding repeated certificate regeneration. This is typically done through the router's administration interface using "DHCP Reservation" or "Static DHCP".
