Dermi Atlas Manager and Dermi Atlas Professional support the following operating systems:
Intel and AMD (x64) Windows and Linux PCs are supported natively. On macOS, Dermi Atlas Manager ships as an Apple Silicon (ARM64) build only, so Intel Macs are not supported. Apple Silicon Macs run the amd64 container images through Rosetta 2 translation; native ARM64 container images are not provided. Windows on ARM (ARM64) devices are not supported, because Docker Desktop on Windows runs amd64 images through QEMU emulation, which cannot run the Dermi Atlas Professional container stack.
The minimum requirement ensures basic functionality, but additional memory improves performance. Dermi Atlas Professional runs alongside Docker containers, which consume memory continuously while the system is active. The Atlas Vision service, used for automatic image alignment, benefits from additional RAM, particularly when aligning multiple images simultaneously. If the host computer is used for other tasks (like EMR software or front-desk operations), 16GB is strongly recommended.
The minimum requirement covers the initial installation of Dermi Atlas Manager, Dermi Atlas Professional, and Docker components. However, storage usage grows over time as patient photographs are uploaded and system backups are created.
Planning for Storage:
Dermi Atlas Professional runs inside Docker containers. Docker must be installed and running on the host computer before Atlas Professional can be deployed.
Supported Docker versions:
Docker version 28.0.0 or later is required. Dermi Atlas Manager verifies the installed Docker version during setup and will not proceed if it is older.
Docker Desktop is recommended for most users because it provides a graphical interface for managing resources and simplified installation.
The following figures are optional general guidance rather than enforced requirements. Dermi Atlas Manager does not configure Docker Desktop's overall resource allocation. The deployed stack applies its own memory limits to two services, the Atlas Vision service (2GB) and the real-time sync server (1GB); the remaining containers are unbounded. To adjust the resources Docker may use, open Docker Desktop and go to Settings => Resources.
Important: On macOS, and on Windows with the Hyper-V backend, memory allocated to Docker is reserved and not available for other applications on the host computer. With the recommended WSL 2 backend on Windows, memory is drawn from the host dynamically, up to the configured limit. Balance Docker's allocation against other needs.
