The member's guide. Claim an invitation on the practice network with the email address and claim code, complete a change staged from the Dermi Portal, and read the sign-in restriction messages.
An account on a Dermi Atlas Professional deployment is created by claiming an invitation. The license owner sends the invitation from the Dermi Portal, the invited person receives a claim code by email, and the account is created on the deployment itself, on the practice network, with a username and password of the member's own choosing. Later changes the owner makes to the account type or the email address are completed by the member in the same way, with a code.
The invitation arrives with the subject "Invitation to join a team on Dermi Atlas". It carries the invited email address, the eight-character claim code shown as XXXX-XXXX, the account type (Clinician or Assistant), and the name of the person who sent it. The email does not carry the deployment's address on the practice network; the inviter provides it. The code is valid for 24 hours from the moment the email is sent and works once.

The password is set on the deployment and never leaves it. The email address is verified by the claim, so recovery and security email can be delivered to it. Two-factor authentication can be added afterwards from Options => Account, as described in Account Security.
A claim code expires 24 hours after it is sent. The page reports a refused claim with "This invitation could not be claimed. The email address and code must match the invitation; check both, or ask the license owner for a new code." The usual causes are a mistyped code, an address that differs from the invited one, an expired code, and a code replaced by a newer one. Ask the owner to select Resend Invite in the Dermi Portal; a new code is emailed, and the previous one stops working. Repeated refused attempts pause claiming on the deployment for a short time, so a code that keeps being refused is better resolved with the owner than by retrying.
The license owner can promote an Assistant account to Clinician or change the account's email address. Neither is applied on the owner's word alone: a change code is emailed to the member, and the member completes the change on the deployment.

A promotion changes the account type from Assistant to Clinician as soon as the code is accepted; an address change moves the account to the new address and verifies it. The code expires 24 hours after it was sent. A refused code reads "This code does not match the selected change. Check the code and the change type, or ask the license owner for a new code."; the owner obtains a new code by saving the change again in the Dermi Portal. A downgrade from Clinician to Assistant needs no code and is applied at the deployment's next check-in.
Email addresses cannot be edited on the deployment: the Email Address field in Account settings is read-only and directs to the Dermi Portal, and the owner is the one who stages an address change. The owner's side is described in Inviting and Managing Team Members.
A correct username and password are refused, and an open session ends, when the account's membership no longer admits it. The sign-in page names the reason, and a signed-in session shows the same message in place of the dashboard with a Sign Out action.
Further cases, including invitation emails that do not arrive, are covered in Troubleshooting Account and Authentication Issues.
